News from the Antihero Derby Alliance

"Rules of War"

Charity Game Psycho 78s Vs. Antihero Derby Alliance September 24, 2011

The Antiheroes rolled all the way to the upper most parts of uncharted New Jersey to seek out the ultimate battle with the wild Renegade legends that roam those woods. With a spray of blood and tribal painted faces the Renegades emerged, making their way to the track with the roar of ravenous fans leading them out of the wastelands and onto the concrete war grounds, like a lighthouse of voices. The Stoic ADA held their ground, watching the other team and circling the track like silent predators eager for blood in the water to ignite their frenzy.

With the shrill scream of the game whistle the battle ensued. The first half of the game was ADA rules; fast paced and tight to the track the Antiheroes managed to adapt to the concrete jungle. Using homemade trapping devices called 'penalty boxes', which are not indigenous to the Renegade territory, they managed to ensnare some of the Renegades long enough to score the points for an ADA win of Renegades 19 to ADA 26.

The second half of the game was Renegade Rules: anything goes. EMTs and animal handlers at the ready, the sound of stomping and growling coming from the undulating mass of standing fans rolled over the track. The Renegades tore out of the gate, confident and hungry for the win, fighting the Antiheroes all the way with flying rabid squirrel maneuvers and well trained (upper body, thank you so much) take downs. The Antiheroes tore free to fight back with ferocious blocks and slippery dodges, biting and scraping to the last second of the last jam. With a tight score through the entire event, the Antiheroes learned to adapt, yet again; learning new moves from the renegades themselves, reversing blocks, and accepting that there is a whole world off the track when the track doesn't matter (think outside the oval). Now, with blood in the water (and smeared on the ground), in the last jam of the game the Renegades, refusing to give an inch but willing to loose a pint, managed to keep their flag waving high, bringing home a hard core win of ADA 35 to the Psycho's 38. Blood tastes sweet when you're winning; and even sweeter when you are raising $1,470 for charity. Thanks guys, you were awesome!

Look for a home game in our 2012 season - Rematch Rules Vs Rules!!!

"Zombies Vs. Aliens"

October 30, 2011

Recently The Antiheroes broke up into two home teams and battled it out in our heart pounding October ZOMBIES VS. ALIENS bout at Skate N Fun Zone, presenting a halftime costume contest and lovely guest announcer Debbie Does Dulles from our close neighbors and new take off league the NOVA Rollergirls. Thanks for the help Debbie! Also, special thanks to our amazing anthem singer Andrea Knight! Through the entire game the score was nail-bitingly close, bouncing back and fourth between a few points, but a couple of well timed trips to the penalty box helped the Aliens to take advantage in the last few jams, allowing their jammer a clear path to a grand slam, bringing them the win at a score of Zombies 112 to Aliens 145.

Antiheroes in the future...

Our season is coming to a close with just a brief holiday break over Christmas and New Years, then we'll be back with a new action packed season for 2012. Our first game will be played the last weekend of January.

Please remember the Antiheroes are always recruiting; no experience necessary!
